How Irish tides work
Two highs, two lows
Ireland gets semi-diurnal tides: roughly two high and two low waters in every 24 hours 50 minutes, shifting ~50 minutes later each day.
Springs and neaps
Around full and new moon, tides swing widest (spring tides); at quarter moons the range shrinks (neaps). The heights in our tables show it clearly.
Weather matters
Predictions are astronomical. Storms, wind and pressure add or subtract real water — the "surge". Leave a safety margin on exposed shores.
